If you just bought a package on Smean and wondered what “30-day workspace access” means - or what happens to your credits when that period ends - this post is for you.

Two things you get when you buy a package

Every Smean package gives you two things:

Credits - the balance you use to transcribe audio (100 credits = 1 minute)
Workspace access - the active period during which you can use your credits and all workspace features

These two things are linked. Your credits never disappear, but you need an active workspace access period to use them.

Credits: they never expire, but they need an active access period

When you buy a package, credits land in your account and they are never deducted at expiry. A Premium pack ($5) gives you 30,000 credits - about 5 hours of audio. Those credits stay in your account forever.

The catch: credits are locked until you have active workspace access. If your access period ends and you haven’t topped up, your credit balance is frozen - you can see it, but you can’t transcribe until you purchase again.

Top up at any time to unlock your balance and pick up exactly where you left off.

Top up: expired or not

If your access has expired:

Purchase any package to restore access; your frozen credits unlock and stack with the new ones

If your access is still active but your credits are low:

Top up to add more credits to your balance before you run out
Your current access period is not reset — the new access days stack on top of whatever is remaining
